Description : James was reputed to be a miller. He was a member of the Provincial Congress from the Chester district during the administration of the last Royal Government of South Carolina. He was also a member of the South Carolina legislature which called the constitutional convention which ratified the United States Constitution. One of the persons named on a plaque as a Revolutionary soldier from the Catholic Presbyterian Church.
