Description	:	James Peter Nelson was born at Hjouring, Denmark, on Sept. 29, 1840, and departed this life at his home in Sutton, Nebr. , on Thursday morning, June 13, 1929, at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 14 days. He remained in his native country until 1873, when he came to the United States, residing in Illinois for three years. He then came to Nebraska, taking a homestead in Clay County, northwest of Sutton. Living alone there for five years, at which time his intended bride, Miss Mary Anderson of Denmark, came to this country.... Read More	James Peter Nelson was born at Hjouring, Denmark, on Sept. 29, 1840, and departed this life at his home in Sutton, Nebr. , on Thursday morning, June 13, 1929, at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 14 days. He remained in his native country until 1873, when he came to the United States, residing in Illinois for three years. He then came to Nebraska, taking a homestead in Clay County, northwest of Sutton. Living alone there for five years, at which time his intended bride, Miss Mary Anderson of Denmark, came to this country. They were united in marriage at Saronville, Nebr. on Dec. 3, 1880. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson remained on the farm until nineteen years ago, when they moved to Frankland and resided there five years, then moved to Sutton, where they have lived until the time of his death. To this union were born four boys and four girls; namely Nels of Harvard, John of Edgar, Hannah of Omaha, Mary of Anselmo, James of Verona, Anna of Haxton, Colo., Peter of Chappell, and Grace of Sutton. All these and his loving wife, thirteen grandchildren and a host of friends remain to mourn the loss of this loving husband and father. Mr. Nelson, in all the communities in which he has resided, has proven himself a true American citizen a neighbor in every respect. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his youth and has lived ever faithful to the ideals of Christianity, and when the end of his earthly days came, he prepared to depart by the faith in our Lord. The influence of his has left its mark and not a stain, truth, honesty, and morality have left its example, which is immortal. The funeral service was held from the Congregational church Saturday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. H. W. Cox of Franklin. Burial was in the Sutton Cemetery.
