Description	:	James R. Sprague, for many years a resident of Grant, was found dead in bed at his home there early Friday morning by his wife. Heart trouble is thought to have been the cause of his death. About 11 o’clock Thursday night, Mr. Sprague had a coughing spell, which awoke him, and he raised up in bed to ask his wife, who had not yet gone to bed, she she expected to retire He lay down again at one and it is believed he must have died about that time. Sprague, for many years a resident of Grant, was found dead in bed at his home there early Friday morning by his wife. Heart trouble is thought to have been the cause of his death. About 11 o’clock Thursday night, Mr. Sprague had a coughing spell, which awoke him, and he raised up in bed to ask his wife, who had not yet gone to bed, she she expected to retire He lay down again at one and it is believed he must have died about that time. When Mrs. Sprague went to bed, she did so carefully, not wishing to wake her husband, and it was not until the next morning, when she noticed her husband had not changed his position in bed during the night, that she discovered he was dead. Mr. Sprague had not been ill and the day preceding his death he spent shucking corn on the Stinemates farm south of Grant. Mr. Sprague was born October 1, 1856, in Indiana and came there to Iowa in 1865, locating on a farm near Grant. He is survived by his wife and six children, all of whom live in the vicinity of Grant. The children are Mrs. Geo. Davis, Dale, Russell, Jay, Jessie, and Lawrence. There are also four brothers and three sisters. They are John Sprague of Morton Mills, Dan Sprague of Villisca, Chas. Sprague who resides in Missouri, William Sprague of Oregon, Mrs. A. Allard of Villisca, Mrs. Anderson of Rockford, Illinois, and Mrs. Harpe of Buffalo. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Methodist Church in Grant, with Rev. A. breeding in charge of the service. Interment was in the Grant Cemetery.
