Mr. Cannon was born November 30, 1869, in Deerfield, Mich., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cannon. In 1870 he came to Kansas in a covered wagon with his parents, who settled on a farm five miles northeast of Emporia. Mr. Cannon was born November 30, 1869, in Deerfield, Mich., a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cannon. In 1870 he came to Kansas in a covered wagon with his parents, who settled on a farm five miles northeast of Emporia. He lived there until 1894, when he moved to Emporia and was a partner in the Lawson-Cannon grocery at 604 Commercial. Later he worked for Haynes Hardware and was a city fireman until he moved back to the Cannon farm in 1902. Ini 1913 he entered the employe (sic) of the John Deere plow company and moved back to Emporia. He retired in 1931. He was married to Emma Atkinson of Emporia in 1892, and she died January 8, 1906. On May 6, 1908, he was married to Clara Gibson at Bushong. He is survived by his wife, of the home; four sons, Jesse Cannon, LaCenter, Ky., Roy L. Cannon and Howard Cannon, Emporia, and Joe Cannon, Kansas City, Mo.; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Pierce, 420 Arundel; Mrs. Clara Givins and Mrs. Jane Love, Junction City, and Mrs. Louise Hysom, Hutchinson; two sisters, Mrs. Will Lawson, Palo Alto, Calif., and Mrs. Mont Higbee, Bartlesville, Okla.; six grandsons; 10 granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian church.
