For many years he had been almost blind. However, he was able to get around town unassisted. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in SS. Peter and Paul's church. Rev. H. B. Karhoff was celebrant of the requiem Mass. Pallbearers were: Leslie Shimon of Rolfe, Lester and Harold Shimon of Havelock, Harry Malm, James Sedlacek and Joe Hudek, all of this place. The former three are nephews of the deceased. Burial was in Calvary cemetery. Mr. Shimon was born in Bohemia in 1868, the son of John and Annie Shimon. When he was a small child he came with his parents to America. They lived in Chicago before coming to Pocahontas county in 1870. The family located on a farm northeast of Pocahontas. He has resided here since. Surviving is one sister, Kate Shimon, with whom he lived, and a number of nieces and nephews. Two sisters and two brothers, Mary, Ann, Joe and John, preceded him in death.
