James Thomas Hays, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Hays, of Emmitsburg, and Miss Margaret Hansell Warner, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Warner, of Blue Ridge Summit, were married in the Episcopal chapel, at Blue Ridge Summit, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Mr. Niles, of Blue Ridge Summit. The ring service was used. William E. Hays, brother of the groom was the best man and Miss Margaret Hays, sister of the groom, was the bridesmaid. W. Clay Shuff was the usher. Only members of the immediate families with a few friends were present at the ceremony. The wedding march was played by Miss Elizabeth Willard, Blue Ridge Summit. Mr. and Mrs. Hays left immediately after the ceremony for a two weeks' trip to Lake George, N.Y. On their return they will reside in Emmitsburg." Hays, Sr., 85, of 803 Evergreen Drive, Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, and formerly of 535 West Main Street, Emmitsburg, died Sunday, July 21, at the Leater Nursing Home, Reading, Pennsylvania, where he had been a resident for 15 months. He was the husband of Margaret H. Warner Hays, Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Born in Emmitsburg, he wasa son of the late Thomas C. and Minnie E. Fox Hays. Mr. Hays served in the U. S. Army in World War I. He was formerly president of J. T. Hays & Son Companny in Emmitsburg until 1951. He then owned Town & Country Liquified Gas Company in Taneytown until 1960. He received a BA Degree from Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg in 1918 and he graduated from Bliss Electrical School, Takoma Park, in 1920. He was a two-term town councilman and a two-term mayor of Emmitsburg. He also was past president of the Maryland LPGA. He was a member of Tyrian Lodge 205 AF & AM, Emmitsburg, Good Samaritan Royal Lodge 266, Gettysburg, Gettysburg Commando 79, Knights Templar, the Zembo Temple AANOMS, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and was Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, James T. Hays, Jr., Keeseville, New York; four daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Robert) Murray, Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Susanne (Dr. Euclid) Jones, Perue, New York, Barbara (Mrs. Warren) Adams, Vienna, Austria, Helen Kenron, McAlistersville, Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers, William Hays, Waltham, Massachusetts, Rev. John Hays, Rehobeth Beach, Delaware, Samuel Hays, Emmitsburg, Dr. Harry Hays, Washington, D. C.; and one sister, Margaret Warner, Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at the Emmitsburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Laurean Warner officiating. Interment will be in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.
