Description	:	James Thomas Walker, son of the late John and Luverba Henderson Walker, was born in Davis County, September 9, 1884. Most of his life was spent in Davis County. He was united in marriage to Mabel Spurgeon in February of 1903 and to this union ten children were born. James was later remarried to Mrs. Bertha Harter. Mr. Walker made his confession of faith as a young man and was baptized into the fellowship of the Christian church. At the time of his death, his membership was in the Bloomfield Christian church. Death came to him very suddenly on the morning of November... Read More	James Thomas Walker, son of the late John and Luverba Henderson Walker, was born in Davis County, September 9, 1884. Most of his life was spent in Davis County. He was united in marriage to Mabel Spurgeon in February of 1903 and to this union ten children were born. James was later remarried to Mrs. Bertha Harter. Mr. Walker made his confession of faith as a young man and was baptized into the fellowship of the Christian church. At the time of his death, his membership was in the Bloomfield Christian church. Death came to him very suddenly on the morning of November 29, at 7:30 a.m. News of his death came as a great shock, for he had been in apparent good health. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and 3 sons, Clell, Everett, and Gerald. Surviving to miss his presence and mourn his departure are three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Southern of Moulton, Mrs. Forrest Smith of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Jimmie Boggs of Ottumwa; four sons, Ray of Chicago, DeWitt and Glenn of Peoria, Il., and Ira Donald of Ottumwa; three step-children, Mrs. Wallace Henderson of West Grove, and Wilbur and Willis Harter of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 step grand-children. Members of the paternal family who survive are the three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Charles Spilman Sr. of Bloomfield, Mrs. Frank Utt of Savannah, Mrs. Charles Watts of Pomona, Ca., Cliff of Bloomfield, and Eska of Fairfield. Funeral services were held at the Wagler Funeral Home at 2p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, the Reverend Fred D. Sawyer officiating. Burial is in the Bloomfield I.O.O.F. cemetery.
