Description	:	J. T. Anderson fell dead Wednesday forenoon while plowing corn on his farm near Holyoke. He had a paralytic stroke some time ago caused by the breaking of a blood vessel in his brain but was confined to the house for only a short time though he had not fully recovered. He went out to plow corn Wednesday morning as he had been doing and when he did not come home for dinner, Mrs. Anderson went out to the field and found him dead. He had fallen from the riding plow and had evidently died instantly and had been dead two or three hours when found. The team had not moved from where it stopped when he fell. The funeral services will be conducted from the Christian Church on Saturday July 27, at 2 p.m. Obituary will be published in next issue. State Herald Transcribed by Carol Moore Holyoke, Colorado July 26, 1912 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ James Thompson Anderson was born at Marshall Grove, Porter County, Indiana, February 7, 1852, and departed this life on July 24, 1912, at his home near Holyoke, Colorado, at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 7 days. On March 6, 1877 he was united in marriage with Mary E. Osborn who survives him. To this marriage, three children were born, Mrs. Alta Millage and Ralph Anderson, one daughter passing from this life in infancy. He also leaves two brothers and two sisters to mourn the taking away of a true and affectionate brother. His two brothers and sister, J.N. Anderson of Paralta, Iowa, B.W. Anderson of Lyons, Iowa, and Mrs. George Barnoske of Marion, Iowa were present at the funeral. Another sister, Mrs. William Bonham of McCool, Indiana, was unable to attend. He was an officer of the Royal Highlander Lodge. In 1890 he united with the Christian Church and has lived a consistent Christian life. He held a responsible official position in his church at the time of his death. He was very highly esteemed as a friend and neighbor by all who knew him and will be much missed in business, social and church circles. His death coming so suddenly as it did, was a great shock not only to the family but to all of the people of the community. The funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church on Saturday July 27, Rev. A.L. Ogden, pastor of the Christian Church of Wray, preaching the sermon. Many and beautiful flowers decorated the church and the casket, procured and arranged as a last tribute of love and esteem for the departed and singers from the different churches of the town assisted in the last services.
