Description	:	JAMES UMPHRESS DIES James Umphress, a resident of this vicinity for many years, died Sunday morning at 8 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. L. Yarrington, his death resulting from old age. He was born in Jackson County, Indiana, on May 20, 1840 and was eighty years old at the time of his death. He came from Indiana to Muscatine County, Iowa and in 1861 was united in marriage with Rachel Ann Burrell. He came with his wife to this part of Iowa in 1875, where they have lived since that time. To them were born five... Read More	JAMES UMPHRESS DIES James Umphress, a resident of this vicinity for many years, died Sunday morning at 8 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. L. Yarrington, his death resulting from old age. He was born in Jackson County, Indiana, on May 20, 1840 and was eighty years old at the time of his death. He came from Indiana to Muscatine County, Iowa and in 1861 was united in marriage with Rachel Ann Burrell. He came with his wife to this part of Iowa in 1875, where they have lived since that time. To them were born five children, one of whom died in infancy. Those living are Bart Umphress of Canada, John and Frank Umphress and Mrs. P. L. Yarrington of Villisca. Besides his wife, who is eighty one years of age, and his children, Mr. Umphress leaves also fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the P. L. Yarrington home with Rev. E. S. Menocher in charge of the service. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery.
