WESLEY MANN: -There passed away in Toronto General Hospital, on Saturday, June 29th, 1957, a respected resident of this district in the person of James Wesley Mann. Son of the late James and Ann Jane Mann, he was born of East Garafraxa Township, on September 27, 1905. On June 12, 1937, he was married to the former Jessie Taylor. They farmed on the home farm until three years ago when they moved to Gier Street, Grand Valley, where Mr. Mann seemed to enjoy life more as he worked as an electrician and with Greenwood Construction Co. Ltd. where he had happily planned to spend the summer. He was treasurer of East Garafraxa Township for many years, a position he held at the time of his death, and had also been for several years treasurer of East Garafraxa twonship School Area Board. Surviving beside his wife are two daughters, Melrose and Mary, a sister, Martha, and a brother, Wilfred, both of Toronto. An aunt, Mrs. Martha Hulbert, Grand Valley, also survives. One brother, George Albert, predeceased him in 1910. Funeral service was conducted from Sime's Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 2nd, by Rev. Hongisto, of Shelburne, with Mr. R. J. Farthing, of Grand Valley, offering prayer. Interment was in Union cemetery, Grand Valley. Honorary pall-bearers were: Harold Burke, Hector Irvine, Russell Irvine, Herbert Irvine, Joe Greenwood and Bernard Boswell. Pall-bearers were four brothers-in-law, Lloyd Taylor, Grant Taylor, Williard Taylor, and Hugh Lindsay; Leonard Bramble and Eric Ruff. The many floral tributes and contributions told of the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Flower-bearers were friends of the deceased.
