Funeral services for James William Stewart, 86, who died Saturday at his home near Perrysville were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Perrysville M. E. Church. The services were conducted by Rev. H. J. Camp, of Leesville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Stewart was a life-long resident of the vicinity of Perrysville, having been born in Perry Township, December 18, 1849. On January 6, 1876, he was married to Miss Rebecca McCarty, and went to housekeeping on the farm where he died. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary last January. He had been a member of the Methodist Church in Perrysville since 18 years old and had been a faithful member all his life. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rebecca Stewart; two daughter, Anna Stewart of the home and Mrs. Will Kelly, of near Perrysville; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Sam Scott, New Philadelphia; and one brother, Ross Stewart, of near Carrollton. His obituary in the Carroll Journal, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, April 23, 1936. James William Stewart, 86, died Saturday, April 18, at his home in Perry Township from the infirmities of old age. He was born December 17, 1849 in Perry Township. Mr. Stewart was married to Rebecca McCarty on January 6, 1876 by Rev. John Stevens and resided all their life on the farm near Perrysville where he died. Mr. Stewart joined the Perrysville Methodist Church at the age of 18 years and continued a faithful member all of his life. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 6 of this year. The Stewart home was widely known in the neighborhood for its hospitality, especially among children who loved the kindly couple. besides caring for their own children, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart left their benefiting influence on many, among them Mrs. Eva Dunlap Wenner, Mrs. Edna McCarty Dagenhart, Alex Sproul and Ray Rinehart. Besides his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Stewart, he is survived by two daughters, Anna of the home and Mrs. William Kelly of near Perrysville; one sister, Mrs. Samuel Scott of New Philadelphia; one brother, Ross Stewart of near Carrollton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Perrysville Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. H. J. Camp officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
