Hamm, who has been ill for nearly two years, died at his home yesterday afternoon at about 3 o'clock. Mr. Hamm celebrated his 82 birthday anniversary on Feburary 22. He had been a resident of Humboldt for more than 60 years. He was born in Clarion County, Pa., and came to Humboldt when a young boy. He was an outstanding citizen of Humboldt, and took part in the progressive acitivities of civic and church affairs here. He was married to Miss Ella Works of Humboldt on February 22, 1890. The celebration of their golden wedding was attended by relatives and friends from three states. Mrs. Hamm preceded him in death a little more than a year ago. Mr. Hamm was recognized for progressive farming and stock raising methods. He was for several years the representative from the 17th district of Kansas, and was a power in the state legislature. He was a staunch Democrat, and was well known in all political circles in Kansas. He was a member of the Humboldt Methodist Church, and was an influential member and officer during his active years. He served many years on the board of education here. Mr. Hamm retired from active duty because of failing health. Funeral services have not been announced. Survivors include four daughters: Miss Helen Hamm, of the home, Mrs A J Trueblood, Humboldt, Miss Kathleen Hamm, Ann Arbor, Mich., Mrs J N Hume, Cincinnati and one son, Robert Hamm, of Humboldt.
