Mr. Hamm was a native of Pennsylvania, being a resident of Clarion county till he came to Kansas. While a citizen of Clarion county he was considered one of her prominent and influential men, being county Auditor for six years, after which he held the position of county appraiser of lands, both of which are responsible offices, requiring great care and good clerical ability. Hamm, aged 55 years. Mr. Hamm was a native of Pennsylvania, being a resident of Clarion county till he came to Kansas. While a citizen of Clarion county he was considered one of her prominent and influential men, being county Auditor for six years, after which he held the position of county appraiser of lands, both of which are responsible offices, requiring great care and good clerical ability. He discharged his official duties with honor and credit to himself and to the satisfaction of the people. In 1878 Mr Hamm removed from Clarion county, and with his family, came to Kansas, locating in Woodson county. He bought a farm six miles northwest of Humboldt. He was a quiet, unassuming man, and had a kind word or pleasant smile for all. His friends in Humboldt, and he had many, will be pained to learn that his earthly career is ended. He was the father of the Hamm Brothers, publishers of the Courant. We tender to them, and the family our sympathy.
