| Description | : | Jan Szawica was the son of Joseph and Regina (Kutrzeba) Szawica. He was born in Pogorska Wola, Skrzyszow Parish, near Tarnow, Poland. He married Hedvigis Rzepa (1826-1866) on 5 Nov 1845 in Pogorska Wola. After Hedvigis died, Jan and their children Joseph, Anna, Sophia and Stanislaus came to the United States on the ship S.S. Wieland departing from Hamburg in April of 1877. His name was also seen as John SAVIDGE or SAVAGE in other records.
