The funeral will occur tomorrow at 11 o'clock at her home. Mrs. Davis is 77 years old and leaves six children to mourn her loss. Her husband was Joseph Davis. He died several years ago. *************************************** Emporia Gazette, Wednesday, February 24, 1897, page 4, column 4 The funeral for Mrs. Jane Davis was held at the home four miles north of town this morning. *************************************** Emporia Gazette, Thursday, February 25, 1897, page 2, column 1 Mrs. Jane Davis died Tuesday morning at 3 o'clock of pneumonia after a three weeks illness. Mrs. Davis was born in West Virginia May 4, 1820. She came to Kansas from Ohio in 1861. Her husband Joseph Davis died on June 8, 1879. She left six children, five sons and one daughter. One son, Talbert Childers died December 9, 1893. The children are: Asher Childers, Salem, West Virginia; Enoch and Wm. Childers, Mrs. Kate Moore, Gilbert and Perry Davis. Mrs. Davis lived along and useful life. Her one thought was for others. The funeral was held at the house at 11 o'clock, conducted by John Calvin Jones. ***************************************** Emporia Weekly Republican, Thursday, February 25, 1897; page 4, column 8 Death of Mrs. Jane Davis Mrs. Jane Davis died Monday night at the home of her son, G.J. Davis, one mile north of the waterworks. She was 77 years old and had lived in this community since 1869. She leaves five sons an done daughter. The funeral took place from the home yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Interment was at Maplewood.
