Description	:	Mrs. Jane Bowers, 88, pioneer resident of Greenville and mother of Mrs Elmer Greene of Spencer, passed away Tuesday evening, November 22, at 10:30 o'clock. Funeral service were held Friday afternoon November 25 at two o'clock at the Congregational Church in Greenville, with the Rev. B.H. Cheney in charge. A group of selections were given by the church choir. F.R. Barglof, C.A. Pickering, L.E. Mills, Warren Doyle, Harley Alexander and Max Ellis of Estherville served as pall bearers. Burial was made in the Greenville cemetery. Jane Devas, daughter of Peter and Johanna Devas was born in Amsterdam, Holland, October 4, 1844. At the age of nine years she came with her parents to the United States and located at Milwaukee, Wis. The family later moved to Union Grove in Racine county where she was married to John Bowers, July 16, 1864. In 1883, Mr. and Mrs. Bowers and children came to Greenville, Ia., where they have since resided. Mrs. Bowers was the mother of six children, William Bowers of Greenville, Mrs. Cora Greene of Spencer, Edward Bowers of Olivia, Minn., Cornelia Bowers, and Mrs. Nellie Alexander, both of Greenville and a son, Fred, who died at the age of 16 months. Mr. Bowers passed away August 9, 1910. Mrs. Bowers was reared in the Presbyterian beliefs to which she adhered. She encouraged righteous living and gave of her means for the support of the church in the Greenville community. Numerous relatives and friends of community mourn the death of one of their pioneer residents. The New Herald, Spencer, Clay County, Iowa; Friday, December 2, 1932.
