Description	:	Jane was a daughter of John and Martha (Jamison) Downey. She came to America in 1861 along with her mother, Martha Jamison Downey, and 2 brothers, Andrew and John. When 15 years of age she came with her mother to Philadelphia, later to Illinois, locating in Millersburg. Whe was married to William Taylor Dec. 8, 1864 at Aledo, Illinois. To this union were born 12 children: Hester Isabel, John Jameson, Frank Washington, Benjamin Henderson, William Howard, Martha Rebecca, Norman Green, Evanna Jane, Joseph Paul, Angelo Jesse, Samuel McConnaughy and Walter Alexander. Four of these and her husband preceded her in death. They emigrated to Nebraska in a covered wagon in 1872, homesteading in York county, near Benedict where they lived for many years. The last few years she and her daughter made their home in Polk where she passed to the great beyound early Sunday morning May 29. Mrs. Taylor joined the Presbyterian church when 12 years old and later transfered to the Baptist church at Polk, Nebr. She was faithful in her Christian life and was loved by all who knew her. Funeral services were held from the Baptist church at Polk Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Skinner assisted by Rev. Hopkins and Rev. Dillon. Interment in Greenwood cemetery.
