She had been talking over the telephone a short time before her death. Mr Allely went out to look after the chores while she was talking at the phone and returned to the house in about fifteen minutes. Mrs Allely was seated at the table with her head bowed down and her shawl over her head. When he went toward her he found she had passed away. The deceased had been troubled with her heart for some time, causing Mr Allely a great deal of worry. Mr and Mrs Allely have lived on the farm many years and are old settlers of Fremont county and have a host of friends. We have not learned any particulars about the funeral, she will no doubt be buried at Randolph as their relatives that are dead are buried there. Allely, whose maiden name was Jennie Johnston, was born in the Province of Quebec, Canada, October 17, 1848, and died at her home about five miles northeast of Randolph, Monday afternoon, Dec. 21. Last fall she had passed the sixty-ninth milestone of lifes journey. When she was but a child of six the family moved to the States and settled in Illinois. Here she spent the happy days of her girlhood and early womanhood. November 18th, 1873, she and Mr. M. S. Allely were united in marriage. The first three years of their wedded life was spent in Rock Island county, Illinois. They came to the open prairies of Iowa and settled on the farm east of Randolph. This was in the fall of 1876, just 41 years ago. Her long residence in this community classed her with the early pioneers to whom we owe a great debt for their sacrifice and service. The prosperity and blessings of today are possible because of the splendid foundation laid by these worthy frontiersmen. In the spring of 1884 they located in Randolph and for ten years lived on the corner where the new Methodist church now stands. Four children blessed their home. One, a daughter, died in infancy. A son, Bertrum Howard, lived to be four years old. Mrs. M. B. Fellows and Ray Allely mourn with their father the going of a most precious loved one. Mrs. Allely was one of a family of ten children, six boys and four girls. She was the youngest of the girls. She is survived by three brothers, John and William C. of Randolph and Joe Johnston of Rock Island, Ill., and by three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Allely, and Mrs. C. E. Gingles of Randolph and Mrs. Mary Dickman of Rock Island, Illinois. The twelve grandchildren will miss the gentle ministry of one who was so kind and affectionate with little ones. When but a young woman Mrs. Allely united with the Methodist church. She and her husband have been actively identified with every interest of Methodism in this section of Iowa. For forty one years they have been prominent in the council and activities of the church. They immediately identified themselves with the Farmer City class when that congregation was still worshiping in a school house. They encouraged and contributed to the building of four new Methodist churches, Farmer City and Imogene, the first at Randolph and also the magnificent new one located on the spot owned by them until the property was transferred to the church. Mrs. Allely was known for her kindness and hospitality. Her home was the scene of most delightful social and religious gatherings. She was witty and had a most delightful sense of Humor. Many have been inspired by the cheer and encouragement of her words and fellowship. She was a kind loving mother, a thoughtful considerate neighbor, a true friend. Her death marks the going of a worth pioneer and a splendid Christian mother. The funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, a 2 oclock in the Methodist Episcopal church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Peter Jacobs, assisted by Rev. P. A. Tinkham, pastor of the Presbyterian church. The sacred songs so precious to her were sung by the church choir. Interment was made in the Randolph cemetery. Mrs. Allely had not been in the bets of health for a number of years yet her illness and death followed each other so closely that it was with surprise and sadness that the community learned of it.
