Renner, Ill Only Short Time, Dies Hand County mourns the passing of another pioneer resident, in the death of Mrs. Alexander Moncur, who passed away Saturday evening at her home in Alpha township. Death came as a relief from years of suffering. For nearly ten years, Mrs. Moncur had been ill, and the last six years she had spent in bed. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Presbyterian church in Miller. Services were in charge of Rev. Joseph Andrews and Rev. Albert Hartt. Surviving her death are two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Anna Jones, Alex F. and James R. Moncur of Miller, and Miss Jessie Moncur of Sioux Falls, three grandsons and one granddaughter. Obituary Janet Robb was born near Kerrimuir, Scotland, February 15, 1939, and passed away June 30th, 1934, at her home in Alpha township at the age of 95 years, 4 months and 15 days. She was united in marriage to Alexander Moncur of Kerrimuir, Scotland, November 5th, 1874, and to this union were born four sons and two daughters. In the spring of 1883, she with her husband and family, emmigrated to South Dakota, locating on government land in Florence township and nine years later to the present home in Alpha township. During the early years of her life in South Dakota, she endured all of the hardships of pioneer life in a new country. She united with the Presbyterian Church of her native land, when a girl, and during the early years of her life in South Dakota, she united with the Presbyterian Church of Miller, and continued her membership there until her death. The husband and two sons preceded her in death, David, the oldest son June 6, 1900; William, the youngest son, August 17, 1904 and her husband May 22nd, 1913.
