Description	:	Richard and Janet Baber and their entire family were killed in a two-car collision on the Bluegrass Road, Route 2, Wapello County, Iowa, on Sunday evening, January 14, 1968, in what was the worse traffic accident ever recorded in Wapello County history. The family lived on the road near the High Point School, and they were headed home at the time of the accident. Drifting snow was attributed by authorities as being responsible for the tragedy. Bower and Mrs. Sylvia Dunham, both of Ottumwa; three brothers, Robert E. of Bloomfield Route 3, Frank D. of Davenport, and James D. of Ottumwa; three sisters, Mrs. Jean Meyer of Ottumwa Route 4, Mrs. Patricia York and Mrs. Connie Aeschliman, both of Ottumwa; and a grandmother, Mrs. Hilma DeFord of Ottumwa. The funeral for all seven members of the family was held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel, in charge of Rev. Cecil Simonton, pastor of Davis Street Christian Church. Military services for Mr. Baber were in charge of the local American Legion post. Members of the Legion served as pallbearers. Also serving as pallbearers were Don Spurgeon, Glen Sipes, Jess Parcel, Kenneth and William Barker, and Dale Stevens.
