A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Wofford Heights, Calif. at 11:00 a.m., with Father Anthony Iromenu officiating. Internment will follow at the Kern River Valley Cemetery in Wofford Heights. Janet had been a resident of Lake Isabella since 1977 and a Kern County resident since 1967. She was born in Norfolk, Neb. on Aug. 27, 1937 and was 74 years of age. The former Janet Seymour attended the University of Nebraska and pursued a banking career in Phoenix, Ariz. She moved to Bakersfield in 1967 upon her marriage to John M. Ridenour. She continued in the banking field and was a graduate of the American Institute of Banking. In 1977 Jan and John moved to the Kern River Valley where they built and operated KVLI AM and FM radio. They retired in 1997. In 2003, Janet began a career in real estate that lasted until her death. Jan was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the Altar Society of that church. She was also a member of Preceptor Xi Eta Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Kern River Valley Historical Society, the Lake Isabella Chamber of Commerce, and a lifetime member of the Kern Valley Hospital Foundation. She served as an officer in many of these organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1998. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Cynthia Seymour of Etowah, N.C.; niece and husband, Kelly and Peter TomHon of Seoul, South Korea; cousins, Douglas Kuhlman of Austin, Texas and Patricia Flanagan of Omaha, Neb. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Catholic Church, Wofford Heights, Calif. Services entrusted to Sierra Valley Mortuary, Lake Isabella, Calif.
