Description	:	Janice Arlene McCormick was born May 16, 1939 to Edward and Margaret (Sexton) Brown in Valentine, Nebraska. She lived in both Columbus and O’Neill before school age while her father worked for Nebraska Public Power. She attended 12 years of schooling in Valentine. Read More	Janice Arlene McCormick was born May 16, 1939 to Edward and Margaret (Sexton) Brown in Valentine, Nebraska. She lived in both Columbus and O’Neill before school age while her father worked for Nebraska Public Power. She attended 12 years of schooling in Valentine. Upon graduation in 1957, she went to work at the Cherry County Clerk’s Office. Janice married Gene McCormick on May 3, 1958 and to this union two sons were born: Brad and Jim. They lived on a ranch in Todd County, SD until 1982, when they moved to town. She worked for TG&Y and Country General. She then joined her husband and worked for JL Healy of Sioux Falls, SD and later did the book work for McCormick & Co. Fencing & Harvesting. She loved her yard, especially the roses. She also loved helping her friends and neighbors. But, she especially loved being around her grandsons - hunting, fishing and attending their school activities. She was so very proud of her sons and grandsons. Her love of animals always kept cats and dogs around. Everyone said all the strays headed to McCormicks. Janice passed away in Valentine on October 5, 2015. She is survived by her husband Gene; sons Brad (Charlene) and Jim (Tracy); and grandsons Dustin and Miles. She was preceded in death by her parents and a baby sister. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM, Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Presbyterian Church in Valentine. Burial followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Valentine. Holmes Funeral Home of Valentine was entrusted with the arrangements. Submitted by Judy Johnson (#48796369)
