Description	:	Janice Benning, 75, of Miller, S.D., died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at the Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. A memorial service was held at First Presbyterian Church in Miller, with the Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial of cremains was at the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller. Reck Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Janice Vivian Zemlicka was born April 17, 1931 to Lloyd and Lucille Zemlicka at Aberdeen, S.D. Janice lived her entire life in Hand County. She spent her childhood years on her parents' ranch, and attended Ontario Grade School, Ontario Township. She graduated from Miller High School, and then attended college at Mitchell, graduating with a degree in social work. After college, Janice returned to Miller, where she pursued her career in social work for the State of South Dakota for 31 years, at which time she retired. Janice married Walter Gene Benning on October 26, 1952 at the Presbyterian Church in Miller. Janice was a loving, giving and caring person. She enjoyed traveling, camping, crafts, riding horseback on the ranch when she was young, her home, friends and her pets. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, Eastern Star for 50 years, a past officer and member of the South Dakota Retirement Association. Janice did volunteer work when needed and able. Survivors are her loving husband, Walter Gene of Miller; a sister, Elayne McLain of Poway, Calif.; a nephew: Michael McLain of Poway, Calif.; a niece: Michele Dale of Fresno, Calif.; and a cousin: Jon Zemlicka of Monticello, Minn. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lloyd and Lucille Zemlicka, and a brother, Robert Zemlicka. The Miller Press 8/8/2006
