Description	:	Jennie, christened Janna Adelina, was born on a farm two miles northwest of Sterling , Nebraska on Dec. 26, 1901. She was the firstborn child of Henry and Meta, nee Aden, Walters. She was the granddaughter of early day Johnson County settlers, Fokke and Anke Aden and George and Janna Walters, all of Sterling, who had immigrated to the country from Germany in the late 1880's. Jennie was baptized on January 26, 1902 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, west of Sterling, by Rev. Theodor Hanssen and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burr, Nebraska by Pastor Wm. She was the firstborn child of Henry and Meta, nee Aden, Walters. She was the granddaughter of early day Johnson County settlers, Fokke and Anke Aden and George and Janna Walters, all of Sterling, who had immigrated to the country from Germany in the late 1880's. Jennie was baptized on January 26, 1902 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, west of Sterling, by Rev. Theodor Hanssen and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burr, Nebraska by Pastor Wm. Beckmann. Her confirmation verse was Romans ch. 8, vs 31-32. She attended Saunders Creek rural school south of Burr and was employed at the Lutheran Hospital in Beatrice for several years. Her marriage to Henry Buss of Sterling took place on April 2, 1924 at the Walters home near Burr. They were the parents of two children, LaVerne Buss of Johnson, Ne., who passed away in1995, and Lorraine Olmsted of Tecumseh. Henry and Jennie farmed in Johnson County for 50 years, retiring to Sterling in 1974. Henry passed away in 1976. Jennie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for many years: also a member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Johnson, where she and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on April 2, 1974. She had been a member of Vesta Educational Club, Homemakers Extension Club of Graf and the Leisure Time Club of Sterling. Crocheting and gardening were her hobbies. Wherever she lived, her home was beautiful with flowers and she was always interested to plant new varieties. She was devoted to her family. Her eight grandchildren were invited to spend summer vacations with Grandpa and Grandma Buss and she babysat with them cheerfully when they were young. Jennie loved to cook and her meals were predictably, consistently delicious. Survivors are her daughter, Lorraine, son-in-law Jerome Olmsted of Tecumseh; daughter-in-law, Lois Buss of Imperial, Ne., eight grandchildren and seventeen Great-grandchildren, sister, Lena White of Sterling, sister-in-laws, Evalyne Walters of Sterling, Eleanora Walters of Talmage, Ricka Buss of Beatrice, and Ella Buss of Adams, and many nieces and nephews, She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, three brothers and two sisters. Services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, St. John Lutheran Church, Sterling, the Rev. Doyle Karst officiating.
