Description	:	Jasper was born on 10 Aug 1866 in Magazine, Yell Co., AR, to James Smith Atkins and Elizabeth Windham Atkins (Elizabeth was a twin). He married Alice B. Dobbs, also of Magazine, on 28 Dec 1885 in Yell County. In a 1937 interview, Jasper tells about moving to Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory in 1889 with his brother (Joseph) and their families. Brother John Lawton Atkins moved out later and lived near Jasper. Jasper spent the remainder of his life moving between Atlas, Nelson and Soper, OK. He married Alice B. Dobbs, also of Magazine, on 28 Dec 1885 in Yell County. In a 1937 interview, Jasper tells about moving to Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory in 1889 with his brother (Joseph) and their families. Brother John Lawton Atkins moved out later and lived near Jasper. Jasper spent the remainder of his life moving between Atlas, Nelson and Soper, OK. Before wire fencing was available, he and his brother earned money during the winter selling fence rails. One winter, they sold to Mr. T. L. Griggs 25,000 fence rails at one cent each. As the railroad was being built through their area, Jasper peddled meat to the railroad workers. He also substituted for his brother as a mail carrier between Soper and the Atlas post office until it was closed. Jasper and Alice lost their daughter Essie to TB in 1919. She had married Jeff E. Walker, and her 5 year old son son Lonzo went to live with Jasper and Alice. Essie's daughter Inez was living with her mother's sister Grace Steen in 1920. Photos show Jasper made trips back to Yell Co., AR, to visit his brother James Irvin Atkins and family in Yell Co., AR, and to Pulaski Co., AR to see his sister Mollie Atkins Toors. Around 1920, Mollie held a reunion in her home in Little Rock, AR, which Jasper and their other four brothers attended. Jasper was a meat cutter in Soper, Choctaw Co., OK, until about 1937.
