Description	:	Services for Jay H. Williams, 66, of Ponca City, Okla., formerly of El Dorado, were held at Trout Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Heslip officiating. Burial was in Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia. He died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1994. He was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Council Grove, the son of Elmer Leroy and Anna Caroline Young Williams, and attended Coffee County schools. He graduated from Westphalia RuralHigh School in 1945. He died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1994. He was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Council Grove, the son of Elmer Leroy and Anna Caroline Young Williams, and attended Coffee County schools. He graduated from Westphalia RuralHigh School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1947 and received a good conduct medal. In 1950 he and Margaret Louise Browning were married. On July 14, 1973, he and Mary Jane Worrell were married in Ponca City. He worked for radio stations in Missouri and Kansas. In 1953 he helped built KBTO in El Dorado and served as the chief engineer. He also worked for Graham Two Way Radio for 18 years. Until retiring in 1990, he owned and operated Jay's Two Way. He was an amateur radio operator and was recognized as Amateur of the Year by the Flint Hills Amateur Radio Club in 1966 and by the Kay County Amateur Radio Club in 1988. He was an instructor for novice courses and was active in Storm Spotters. He was president of the Kay County club in 1986 and was communications officer for the Kay County Civil Defense program and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado where he served as secretary/treasurer and youth counselor. Survivors include: wife, Mary; daughters, Cathy Dunn of El Dorado, Shirley Little of Wichita, Janet Williams of Ulysses, step-son, Richard Keating of Ponca City; brother, Elmer Williams of Waverly; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
