Read More	Jean Ann Schwab Smidt, daughter of Raymond Schwab and Bernadyne Rasby Schwab, was born April 20, 1949, in Hastings, Nebraska, and passed away May 2, 1985, in the Brodstone Memorial Hospital at the age of 36 years and 11 days. Jean was baptized April 2, 1950, in the Federated Church in Sutton and was confirmed March 24, 1964, in the Federated Church. She grew up in Sutton and attended Sutton Schools, graduating with the class of 1967. She lived and attended school one year in Denmark as an exchange student. After high school she attended and graduated in 1971 from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, with a B.A. in education. On July 21, 1973, in the Federated Church in Sutton she was married to Melvin H. Smidt. This union was bless (sic) with 4 children. She had taught in Superior elementary schools since graduation from College. She was a member of the Federated Church in Sutton, also the Eugene Rebekah Lodge #34 of Sutton, Superior Fireman's Auxiliary, Jaycee Women, Nuckolls County Genealogical Society and Brodstone Memorial Auxiliary. She will be sadly missed by her survivors: her husband Melvin; her four children, Gregg, Kevin, Marcie and Blake; her parents, Raymond and Bernadyne Schwab of Sutton; her brother, Thomas Schwab of Capitola, California; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Monday, May 6, 1985, at 2:00 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior with Rev. Robert Bowne, pastor of the Federated Church in Sutton, officiating. Music was provided by Carol Shambaugh singing "Beyond The Sunset" and "In The Garden" with Kathy Weis as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were: Leo Zadina, Elmer Rempe, Richard Wilton, Doug Rasby, Randy Rasby and LaMonie Smidt. Honorary Pallbearers were: Herbert Ulmer, Walt Becker, Herman Fintel, Floyd Schmer, Jarold Schmer, Edward Forberg, Eddie Ulmer and Ray Hurst. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery near Superior.
