Jamima Susan Lozier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Lozier, was born in Henry county, Iowa, September 20, 1840, and departed this life January 31, 1928, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Josephine Waugh, near Woodburn, Iowa, age 87 years, 4 months and 11 days. Jamima Susan Lozier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Lozier, was born in Henry county, Iowa, September 20, 1840, and departed this life January 31, 1928, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Josephine Waugh, near Woodburn, Iowa, age 87 years, 4 months and 11 days. She was united in marriage to John Wilson Pulse on June 24, 1858. To this union was born two children, Geo. Edward and Susan Anna, now Mrs. Will Calvin, both of Manhattan Kansas. Mr. Pulse departed this life October 24, 1860. On November 7, 1865, she was united in marriage with Samuel N. Marquis who departed this life December 3, 1916. To this union was born five children, namely, Mrs. Josephine Waugh of Woodburn, Iowa, Calvin C., of Osceola, Iowa, James A. of Indianola, Iowa, Simon N. and Clark, deceased. Also two step-children, Mrs. Susan Kennedy, deceased, and Mrs. Dora Riker of Blair, Nebr. Also 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and 18 step-great grandchildren. "Aunt Tute," as we all knew her best, was converted in the year 1865 during a prayer and testimony meeting held in the old Welch school house, this meeting being conducted by Bro. William Marquis, now deceased. She was a life-long member of the Christian Union church at Bethel Chapel. For the past thirty years of more she had taught the primary class in Sunday school and had most sincerely devoted her life to the children in whom she delighted to instruct in the way of truth and light. She lived to see some of her teachings experienced and it has always been her earnest prayer that all with whom she had had the pleasure of instructing along the Christian life might become better boys and girls and better men and women. The children have been bereft of a devoted mother, the church a loyal instructor and our community a most loved neighbor and friend. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Gordon of Indianola at the Bethel Chapel church, Thursday, February 2, at 11 a. m. Card of Thanks. We desire to express our sincere thanks to all the neighbors and friends who extend to us their assistance and sympathy during the illness and death of our dear mother. For the beautiful floral offerings for the music and consoling words of Rev. Gordon, we are deeply grateful. Children and Grandchildren.
