(Nechanicky) Kupka. They were married at St. Joseph's Church in Chelsea, Iowa on October 23, 1900. They first lived with James's parents and after a short time moved to Chelsea where James and his father-in-law, Samuel M. Kupka, built the new "Tin Barn"... His parents were Frantisek and Marie (Tichy) Vobejda. Joanna Albina Kupka, better known as Jennie, was born December 14, 1878 in York Township, Tama County. Her parents were Samuel M. and Mary M. (Nechanicky) Kupka. They were married at St. Joseph's Church in Chelsea, Iowa on October 23, 1900. They first lived with James's parents and after a short time moved to Chelsea where James and his father-in-law, Samuel M. Kupka, built the new "Tin Barn" in 1901. This was a livery stable where horse driven rigs were available for rental. Even a driver could be hired for outings, business trips and travel to other settlements. When business became poor the "Tin Barn" was sold. Then, James in 1901, purchased 80 acres in Otter Creek Township and the following year an adjacent forty acres. The house, a two story house from the 80 acres was moved onto a plot of this newly purchased land. James and Jennie lived on this farm the rest of their lives. James died July 21, 1955 at the age of 81 and was buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Vining, Iowa. Jennie died May 1, 1958 at the age of 80 and was also buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Eight children were born of this marriage. The oldest child is Albia Mary who was born July 22,1902 and married Leo E. Upah at St. Joseph Church, Chelsea, Iowa on April 15, 1925. They had six children: Bernard, Nicholas (died at birth), Amelia, Juanita, PhyMs, and Robert. Lucille Josephine was born February 24, 1905 in Chelsea, Iowa and married Harry Grabenbauer on October 20, 1926. They had two children: Elizabeth and Philip. William Celestine was born May 28, 1907 and is presently retired and living on the James Wobeter home farm. Elizabeth Mary was born March 1, 1910. She married Joseph C. Dvorak at the Holy Trinity Church near Vining, Iowa on November 18, 1929. Philip, Raphael, Theresa, and Joseph are their children. Celestine Joseph was born February 19, 1914 and he married Frances M. Kucera at St. Wenceslaus Church near Clutier, Iowa on October 1, 1935. Lawrence, Genevieve (Sister Celeste), Anthony (Father Tony), Paul, Leo, Peter, Anne, Mary Ann (died at birth), and Debra are their children. James Bernard was born September 28, 1915 and he married Christina Novotny in Traer, Iowa, on October 11, 1939. James died on May 23, 1940 at the age of twenty-four and was buried at the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Vining, la. Lottie Marie was born October 19, 1920 and died on March 9, 1921 only five months old. She is buried at the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Vining, Iowa. The youngest is Edward Francis who was born November 9, 1922 and he married Lillian Dvorak in Tama County, Iowa on September 10, 1946.
