Description	:	Jennie Grace Hershey was born June 28, 1886, near Hurley, Turner County, Dakota Territory, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Hershey. She attended a rural school and then the Dakota Wesleyan Academy at Mitchell, S.D., in 1904 and 1905, finishing the year in 1907. She also attended summer school at Yankton College and a summer session of music at Morningside College at Sioux City, Iowa. Read More	Jennie Grace Hershey was born June 28, 1886, near Hurley, Turner County, Dakota Territory, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Hershey. She attended a rural school and then the Dakota Wesleyan Academy at Mitchell, S.D., in 1904 and 1905, finishing the year in 1907. She also attended summer school at Yankton College and a summer session of music at Morningside College at Sioux City, Iowa. Jennie became a successful teacher of rural schools in Turner County for several years and for three years in Montana. When she was a young girl, she became a member of the Methodist Church of Hurley. She was always interested in music and sang in the church choir at Hurley. One of her greatest pleasures was training young people in singing. On October 8, 1930, she was united in marriage to C.J. Rist of rural Centerville. They continued to farm there until moving to a farm northeast of Parker. There she joined the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Brothersfield Township. After Charley’s death on July 7, 1956, Jen then made her home in Parker, living in her own home until ill health forced her to enter the Hill Top Nursing Home in May 1965. Jennie Grace (Hershey) Rist passed away on Friday, November 4, 1966, at the age of 80 years, 4 months, and 6 days. She was survived by two sisters: Mrs. Emory Hall (Ethel) of Fulton, S.D., and Mrs. Herman Hertzer (Anna) of Minneapolis, Minn.; three step-children: Mrs. Arnold Wahlberg (Ruth) of West Fargo, N.D., Rev. Ray Rist of Carbondale, Ill., and Rev. Waldo Rist of Washington State; 25 nephews and nieces; and a host of friends.
