Jennie Nordman was born on a farm near Lennox, SD on Jan. 19, 1913, the daughter of Harm and Patty (Bruns) Nordman. She attended Crowley Rural School and grew to womanhood there. On Dec. 19, 1934 she was united in marriage to Louis Moerke at Canton, SD. Following their marriage they lived in Lennox and the Lennox area their entire married life. Jennie Nordman was born on a farm near Lennox, SD on Jan. 19, 1913, the daughter of Harm and Patty (Bruns) Nordman. She attended Crowley Rural School and grew to womanhood there. On Dec. 19, 1934 she was united in marriage to Louis Moerke at Canton, SD. Following their marriage they lived in Lennox and the Lennox area their entire married life. Jennie was employed at Hoelscher's Creamery, Daryl's Grocery and Virg's I.G.A. until her retirement. Her husband died Oct. 28, 1967. Jennie continued living in Lennox and became a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Sep. 15, 1994. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Harold, in Sep. of 1962; her son-in-law, Orlin "Ole" Gedstad, on Jun. 29, 2001; four brothers: Pete, Harm, William "Bill" and Ralph Nordman; two sisters: Katie, as a child and Emma Brown. Having been in declining health, Jennie died at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center Saturday afternoon, Oct. 18, 2003. She attained the age of 90 years, eight months and 29 days. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Dorothy Gedstad, of rural Lennox; two brothers: Frank Nordman and his wife, Joyce of Yankton, SD and Dick H. Nordman of Lennox; two sisters: Marie Bultena and her husband, Marvin of rural Lennox and Katie Javers and her husband, Raymond, of rural Tea; three sisters-in-law: Betty Nordman, Thelma Nordman and Florence Nordman, all of Lennox.
