Christensen, Sr., of Grand Island, Nebraska formerly of St. Paul, Nebraska died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska. Jerald was born September 29, 1935 at Dannevirke, Nebraska to Andrew and Blanche (Klien) Christensen. Jerald moved to a farm west of St. Paul, Nebraska in 1944, where he attended country school #69 and #55. He attended St. Paul, Nebraska school one year. Jerald was united in marriage to Myrna Peterson on May 25, 1958 in St. Paul, Nebraska. The couple divorced in 1996. Jerald entered the United States Army on June 11, 1958. He served his military service in Germany. He was honorably discharged June 2, 1960. After his discharge, Jerald worked for various companies in Nebraska. He later worked for various Rock Company in California and Mo Valley in Nebraska building the interstate. Jerald was a member of the American Vets Post 15 and the Platt-Deuttsche, Grand Island, Nebraska. Jerald is survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Tresa & Mark Arthur of Grand Island, Nebraska and Lisa & Mitch Kearns of Rapid City, South Dakota nine grandchildren; brother, Bobby Christensen of St. Paul, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Darlene Christensen of Grand Island, Nebraska; cousin, Larry Klien of Hastings, Nebraska and a host of family and friends. Jerald is preceded in death by: parents; son, Jerald Christensen, Jr.; grandson, Jonne Baldwin; brothers, Marshall and Gordon Christensen and sister-in-law, Thelma Christensen. Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 6, 2014 at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home, St. Paul, Nebraska. The Reverend Randy Dilts officiated. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, St. Paul, Nebraska with military honors at graveside presented by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119, St. Paul, Nebraska.
