Description	:	Jeremiah Hopkins was the son of Lewis F. Hopkins and Anna Catherine Domer Hopkins. He married Margaret Ann Ward May 5, 1872 in Farmington, Missouri. Jeremiah and Margaret had 13 children. He had been feeling as well as usual, and had helped with the morning feeding on their farm near Farmington. Soon after breakfast he went to his room, where his small granddaughter found... Read More	Jeremiah Hopkins was the son of Lewis F. Hopkins and Anna Catherine Domer Hopkins. He married Margaret Ann Ward May 5, 1872 in Farmington, Missouri. Jeremiah and Margaret had 13 children. Obituary, from LEAD BELT NEWS, Flat River, St. Francois Co., Mo., dated Fri., March 1, 1929: "JEREMIAH HOPKINS Jeremiah Hopkins, one of Farmington's oldest citizens, passed away at his home quite suddenly on Monday, Feb. 18. He had been feeling as well as usual, and had helped with the morning feeding on their farm near Farmington. Soon after breakfast he went to his room, where his small granddaughter found him a few minutes later, in a dying condition. He passed away before medical aid could be secured. Jeremiah Hopkins, third son of the late Louis (sic) and Anna Domer Hopkins, was born in Blair County, Penns., March 30, 1850, and died Feb. 18, 1929, being 78 years, 10 months and 18 days old. He came with his parents to this county when about 8 years of age. They settled on the Hopkins farm, near Copenhagen, where he has since lived. On May 5, 1872 he was married to Miss Margaret Ann Ward. To this union were born 14 children, 10 sons and 4 daughters, six of whom, with the wife and mother preceded him in death. The surviving children are: T.A. (Thomas Asbury) Hopkins, Anna Mary (Mrs. Pete Rickus), and Elizabeth (Mrs. C.C. Rickus), of Farmington; John and Lettie Pearl (married twice, #1 Jacob Henry Rickus #2 James E. Hunter), of Denver, Colo.; Louis F., of Riverton, Wyo.,; and William Hugh, who is with the Navy, stationed in China. All except the latter two were home for the funeral. Services were conducted at the First M.E. Church, on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., by Rev. E.C. Wadlow. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery." Side note regarding the above obituary. According to one of Jeremiah Hopkins' granddaughters, who was present at the above account of his demise had this to say: "My grandfather did not go to his room after breakfast and my sister did not find him in a dying state. I was there with all the family of Thomas Asbury Hopkins. Jeremiah was seated along side my father (T.A. Hopkins) at the head of the table. We were visiting following breakfast when grandfather stood up, gasped for breath and died in my father's arms. Dad laid grandfather on his bed, called the doctor, who came promptly and pronounced him deceased."
