Description	:	From the Beaver Crossing Times, Beaver Crossing, NE, Thurs, Sept 2, 1915 Jerry Martin was born Jan. 29, 1839 at Andover, New York, died at Milford Soldiers & Sailors Hospital Aug. 26, 1915 at the age of 76 years, 7 months. He moved with his parents to Wisconsin when he was eight years old and lived there until he grew to manhood. Read More	From the Beaver Crossing Times, Beaver Crossing, NE, Thurs, Sept 2, 1915 Jerry Martin was born Jan. 29, 1839 at Andover, New York, died at Milford Soldiers & Sailors Hospital Aug. 26, 1915 at the age of 76 years, 7 months. He moved with his parents to Wisconsin when he was eight years old and lived there until he grew to manhood. In 1862, he enlisted in Co E 3rd Wisconsin Infantry and served two years, when he was transferred to the Cavalry where he served until the close of the war, 3 years and 4 months. In 1869 he moved to Nebraska, locating on a homestead near McCook. In 1913, he with his wife moved to Milford to take treatment at the Soldiers Hospital. He had been visiting in Beaver Crossing with his relatives and returned to the hospital on Saturday, then was taken seriously ill and died the following Thursday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Foutz in the Home Chapel after which the Grand Army Post took charge of the body and the Grand Army services were conducted, which with the beautiful floral display, the casket draped in the national flag and the presence of so many comrades, was a most impressive service. A large concourse of friends and relatives followed the remains to their last resting place in the Beaver Crossing cemetery. Mr. Martin leaves an invalid wife, three brothers and three sisters, John Martin of Big Fork, Mont.; Asa Martin, Blackfoot, Idaho; Richard Martin, Mason, Nebr.; Mrs. Hattie Conway of York, Nebr.; Mrs. Ordelia Dimery and Mrs. Caroline Tidyman of Beaver Crossing to mourn his departure. The Times joins the many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved ones in their sorrow.
