Description	:	Jerome A. "Jerry" Tuma, a life-long resident of Nebraska, passed away on, May 29, 2012. The funeral service will be held at the Federated Church in Columbus with Fr. Jay Gabbs and Fr. Mike Keating officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia, NE. Jerry was born in Howard County, Nebraska, near St. Paul, on November 21, 1928, the third of four sons of John Tuma and Blanche Naprstek Tuma. Jerry attended Scotia Consolidated High School and graduated in 1946. It was during those high school days that Jerry met his wife of 64 years, Lucille Douthit-Tuma. After Lucille finished high school, the young couple wed in Grand Island, Nebraska, on October 9, 1947. After residing in New Mexico for a few short months, they returned to Nebraska and made their home in Seward, where they lived for eight years and their first two children, Lynn and Bryan, were born. Their third child, Tracy, was born in Columbus. His employers included Shelly Equipment, Treadway Elevator(later Farmer's Co-op), Augustine Trucking and Waldbaum's Egg Company, from which he retired in 1990's. The Waldbaum's job took Jerry to every corner of the continental United States, visiting forty-seven of the forty-eight states. He never made it to Maine! Until shortly before his death, Jerry enjoyed his part-time employment at Hy-Vee Grocery Columbus store. Jerry and Lucille both joined the Episcopal faith during their years in Seward and have been faithful members and supporters of Grace Episcopal Church throughout their years in Columbus. Jerry is survived by: Wife - Lucille Tuma of Columbus, NE Son - Bryan J. (Judy) Tuma of Lincoln, NE Grandchildren - Benjamin Tuma and Nicole (special friend Rex Osborne) Tuma - Lincoln, Nebraska Daughter - Tracy (Weldon Ponder) Tuma - Austin, TX Step-grandchildren - Steven (Meghan) Ponder of Leander, TX, and Carrie Ameling, PhD of Gaffney, SC Step-great-grandson - Guy Ameling of Gaffney, SC Brother - David Tuma of St. Paul, NE Brother - Donald Tuma of Lexington, NE Sister-in-law - Hazel Tuma of Crete, NE Several nieces and nephews Jerry was preceded in death by: Parents - John and Blanche Tuma Daughter - Cecelia Lynn Tuma Brother - Leonard Tuma Sister-in-law – Betty Tuma Sisters and brothers-in-law – Junie and Imogene Hosch, Duane and Betty Willoughby, and Sonny and Ila Douthit
