He was born Dec. 15, 1916, in Brewster Flats to Martin A. and Kathryn (Beak) Wick. He spent his early years in the Okanogan area and graduated from Okanogan High School in 1936, where he was active in track and football. He married Irene Rappe in 1938 in Okanogan. He worked in the Okanogan area as an orchardist until 1948, when he began power line construction with Tyee Construction, building may power lines throughout the United States. Mr. Wick served in the US Army during World War II, driving truck on the Burma Road, He retired in 1983, after working 30 years for Tyee Construction as a superintendent. He spent his last four years in the Sunnyside area after living many years in the Renton area. Survivors include his daughter, Joan Rappe Wick, Lacey; one brother, Tom, Monse; three sisters, Loran Duling of Okanogan, Edna Jessup of Coulee City and Peggy Baker of Kennewick; his special companion, Geraldine McCormack, Sunnyside; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1993 at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Okanogan. Burial in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Brewster WA under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Valley Hospice or Yakima Valley Home Health. Memorials may be left at Smith Funeral Home or the church at the time of the service.
