He would have passed his 85th birthday on July 19. Mr. Ramsey farmed for many years two miles east of Gilman and had retired and moved to town only recently. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.S. Henline in the Gilman Community church, burial was in Prairie View cemetery. Mr. Ramsey, the son of John and Fannie Ramsey, was born one of a family of six children, on a farm 2 1/2 miles northeast of Gilman, July 19, 1868. Here he grew to manhood attending the schools of Tama county, and later graduated from Iowa Business college in Des Moines. February 14, 1894, he was married to Lillian G. Ingersoll, also of the Gilman community. Immediately following the marriage they began housekeeping on a farm near Carroll, where they lived for two years. They then moved back to the Ramsey farm near Gilman which they later purchased. There they lived until 1946 when they sold the farm and moved into Gilman, where they since resided. Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey were parents of two sons, Martin of Sioux City and Ivan of Clinton, who, with their mother survive. Mr. Ramsey is also survived by three grand-daughters and two great-grand children, also one sister, Mrs. Rilla Stoaks of Tacoma, Wash. In February of 1944 Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey celebrated their golden wedding at the Gilman Community Church. Mr. Ramsey led an upright, honest life, always trying to do all the good he could. He was called to various positions of public trust by his neighbors and friends, which demonstrated the faith they had in his integrity as a citizen. He lived a long life, was a good husband and father, and his bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends in their sorrow. Added 15 Mar 2018∼
