Thanks to Findagrave Member SW #48916404 for sending the following obituary notice from the Weston Republican, which appeared on Saturday, 4 Oct 1884: "On Thursday, the last day of the Fair, occurred the first serious accident in Lewis County since the advent of the railroad. Squire Jesse Woofter was struck by the pilot of the train. He lived but an hour after the accident. His remains were interred in the old Butcher Cemetery alongside his companion, who preceded him a little over a year. Squire Woofter was an old...
