Description	:	Jessie Lorena Rasmussen, 78, of Vermillion died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Sanford Vermillion Hospital. Jessie Rasmussen was born March 7, 1930, in Elm City, S.D., the daughter of Loyal and Minnie (Styles) Brown. She completed school through the eighth grade at Elmwood District 21 rural school. She worked on the farm until her marriage. She married Ralph "Babe" Rasmussen on October 18, 1946. He died April 19, 2003. Jessie Rasmussen was born March 7, 1930, in Elm City, S.D., the daughter of Loyal and Minnie (Styles) Brown. She completed school through the eighth grade at Elmwood District 21 rural school. She worked on the farm until her marriage. She married Ralph "Babe" Rasmussen on October 18, 1946. He died April 19, 2003. The couple lived on a farm near Vermillion taking care of animals and chickens. She also worked as a surgical nurse at Dakota Hospital for many years. The couple spent their life on the farm and running the boat club. She was a member of Cornerstone Church. SHe spent much her time outside watching the river and wildlife. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was kind and compassionate and wore her faith on her sleeve. Survivors include a son and his wife, Russell and Robin Rasmussen of Crane, Mo.; grandchildren and spouses, Mark and Jennifer Swanson of Sioux Falls, S.D., John Rasmussen of Crane, Mo., and Rebecca Stern of Sioux Falls; great grandsons, Connor and Riley Swanson; a sister and her husband, JoAnn and Wayne Hawley of Burbank, S.D.; and a brother, Jim Brown of Vermillion. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Linda Rasmussen; and brothers, Donald, Clyde Allen, and Curtis Brown. Services will be at Cornerstone Church in Vermillion, with the Rev. Devon Davoux officiating. Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery. Arrangements by Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion.
