Rayburn was in charge, assisted by the Rev. A. Breeling. Mrs. Gerald Taylor and Mrs. Jack Taylor sang, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Earl Spiker. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davis and Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Interment was in the Grant Cemetery with Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca in charge. Mrs. DeKay, the daughter of Marshall and Elvira Whitney Taylor, was born November 10, 1862 in Thomson, Illinois and moved to Red Oak in 1881, where she was married to Ira A. Foote, August 13, 1891. To them were born four children, three of whom are living. They are Maurice of Villisca, Merrill of Grant, and Mrs. F. C. Smith, living west of Grant.. The couple moved to a farm a mile west of Grant, where they farmed for many years. Mr. Foote died in 1920. She later married Charles DeKay in 1936 and the couple lived in Red Oak until he died in 1947. Since then, Mrs. DeKay had lived with a daughter, Mrs. Fred Smith in Boise. Her last years were spent at a nursing home in Boise, where she died at 2:30 p.m. May 27. Mrs.DeKay was a former school teacher having taught for ten years in the rural schools of Montgomery County. She united with the Christian Church when a young girl, had been a member of the WRCA, GAR Circle, the Ladies Aid, the Homemakers club and American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Fred Smith of Boise, two sons Merrill A. Foote of Grant and Maurice M. Foote of Council Bluffs; 14 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. A son Lawrence preceded her in death.
