Jimmy was born December 1, 1931, to Herbert and Lola (Kinnison) Peters are York, NE. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln from 1950 to 1952 at which time he was drafted into the United States Army. He served during the Korean conflict as a crane and heavy equipment operator until he was honorably discharged in 1954. In 1957, he married Shirley Vetter at the Ainsworth Congregational Church in Ainsworth, NE. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 5, 2007. Clay Center, NE was their home for all their married lives until they moved to Tekamah, NE in November of 2007. Jim was employed with Werner Construction Company for 40 years and was an owner/operator leased to Dahlsten Truck Lines. He was a member of the American Legion Mills Schroeder Post # 87 in Clay Center, NE and a past president of the Hoppin' Sams Camping Club. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Tekamah, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Steven O'Mara of Tekamah, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Bobbie Peters of Nelson, NE; grandchildren, Bryce Magill and wife Blair of Tekamah, NE; Brooke Ahrens and husband Brent of Oakland, NE; Deanne Magill of Omaha, NE; Brigette Magill of Tekamah, NE; Tyler Peters and wife Tara of Sutton, NE; Anthony Peters and fiancè Cherie Kucera of Lawrence; one great-granddaughter Brennan Ahrens; six step grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren one sister Doris Thornberry and husband Larry of Nelson and numerous nieces and nephews.
