Read More	Joan Loveta Opel April 4, 1934 - November 14, 2015 Joan Loveta (Baker) Opel, 81, of Accident, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Goodwill Mennonite Retirement Center, Grantsville, MD. Born April 4, 1934, in Springs, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Rosella (Ash) Baker. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clark and Paul Baker. Joan was a member of Glade Mennonite Church and the Glade Ladies Sewing Circle. She was a Sunday school and bible school teacher, a Home Health Aide, and a baker at the Casselman Restaurant. After her stroke in 2002, she sewed hundreds of quilts, school and health kit bags for missions. She is survived by her husband, Park Herman Opel; children, Connie Skipper and husband, Roger, Oakland, MD; Peggy Brown and husband, Douglas, Abbotsford, B.C., Canada; John Opel and wife, Bonnie, Meridian, MS; Jeffrey Opel and wife, Rose, Gerald Opel and wife, Barbara, Rebecca Yoder and husband, Daniel, Jr., all of Accident; three brothers, Bernard Baker, VA; Ronald Baker, Yuma, AZ; Clifford Baker, Canton, OH; two sisters, Anna Mae Gracie, Frostburg, MD; Kay Atwell, Meyersdale, PA; 12 grandchildren, Jason and Daniel Skipper, Suzanne and Peter Opel, Andrea, Tina, Alyona and Nicholas Opel, Anita Shenk, Danielle Opel-Moon, Nicole Brenneman and Adam Opel and 6 great-grandchildren, Erynn, Jordan, Derrick, Lucas and Samuel Skipper and Emma Shenk. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Services will be conducted Monday, November 16, 2015 at Glade Mennonite Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jonathan Martin and Pastor Kevin Dodge officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Glade Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation for your prayers and support during this time. All are invited to share in the lunch following the interment. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Hospice of Garrett County. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.newmanfuneralhomes.com.
