Description	:	The Pittsburg Sun of 5/4/1991 reported, "Girard--Joe Galichia,76, of rural Girard died at 2 a.m. Friday, May 3, 1991, at Hospital District No. 1, Girard. He had been in ill health for the past two years. He was born Dec. 18, 1914, at Chapman, north of Arma, to Valentine and Anna Busse Galichia. He had been in ill health for the past two years. He was born Dec. 18, 1914, at Chapman, north of Arma, to Valentine and Anna Busse Galichia. He grew up in the Englevale area and had lived in northern Crawford County most of his life. Mr. Galichia was a retired farmer. In his younger years, he worked for several coal mines. He served on the school board in Englevale and also on the Lincoln Township Board. He participated in numerous agricultural organizations, including the Kansas Farm Bureau and the Crawford County Extension Council. He was married to Mary Redd on Jan. 16, 1983, in Arma. She survives of the home. Other survivors include: a son, Dr. Joseph Galichia of Wichita; two daughters, Sharon Brandenburg of Parsons and Mary Carol Pomatto of rural Girard; two stepson, Jerry Rich of Wichita and Larry Hudson of rural Girard; two stepdaughters, Mary Dianna Barnes of Alexander, Ark., and Sherry Pullman of Arma; three sisters, Mona Mlekus of Arma, Sue Parsons of Wichita and Virginia Rowland of Arma; two brothers, Lawrence Galichia of rural Arcadia and Paul Galichia of rural Pittsburg; six grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild. A brother, Jake Kukovitz, a sister, Mary Blessent, and an infant brother preceded him in death. The service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Andrew Seiler officiating. Burial will be in the Pittsburg Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bendene Funeral Home in Arma, where the rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests memorials to the Cancer Fund. Casket bearers were: Eddie Webber, John Mlekus, Craig Pullman, Bob Rowland, Jerry Rich and Richard Beeton. Organist was Ann Welch.
