Description	:	Son of Hans Heinrich Most (Sr) & Christine Sophia Dorothea Thake, both of whom died in Schaumburg district, Niedersachsen, Germany. He and Minnie (nee Buchmeier) had 11 children of whom the eldest 4 were born in Illinois before they emigrated to Nebraska. His obituary (supplied by Kathy Hajek): The late Conrad Most was born in Hesse, Germany in 1839. At the age of twenty he came to America and found employment at Kankakee, Ill. Two years later he heard the voice of the immortal Lincoln calling together the loyal sons of the North to battle for human liberty. In those trying times none were more loyal to the Union flag than the adopted sons of liberty-loving Germany. This is an example of the course pursued by thousands of Germans. Here was a young man, a mere boy, in a country where he had lived but three years. An effort is made to destroy the government and the flag is upheld by many thousands of patriotic foster sons who bear all the hardships endure, all the privations encounter all the dangers of a patriotic native fighting for a government that had guarded the liberties of his ancestors. After three years service in the Union army he returned to Kankakee, Ill., where in 1865, he was married. In the year 1872 he moved to Nebraska, bringing his family and settled on a homestead in Fillmore county. On this homestead he had since resided. Since the death of his wife, Mr. Most has taken little interest in anything about him. His loneliness increased with eyes filled with tears he declared to a friend the last time he was in town. "I don't want to get well. I want to die". His wish was granted on the night of Wednesday, May 6. The funeral occurred on the following Saturday, Re. M. Kossick delivering the discourse. A great concourse of people followed the remains to the cemetery. Ten sons and daughters survive him.-Ohiowan. (Geneva Ne, Gazette, 22 May 1903, front page col. 2).
