Funeral services were held today, short services at the Goettsch funeral home and further services at 1:30 at Zion Lutheran church in Wayne Township. Rev. F.H. Funeral services were held today, short services at the Goettsch funeral home and further services at 1:30 at Zion Lutheran church in Wayne Township. Rev. F.H. The pallbearers at the funeral were nephews of Mr. Folkerts: George Folkerts, Gerd Andreesen, Harvey Helgens, Bennie Tobiason, Marvin Stahlberg, and Lyle Tobiason. Folkerts was born April 18, 1875, at Leerhafe, Ostfriesland, Germany, a son of Gerhard and Alma Hayen Folkerts. He came to the United States from Germany in 1892 and was married to Katherine Tobiason April 3, 1902, in the Wayne Zion Lutheran church by Rev. C. Mardorf, former pastor of that church. Survivors of Folkerts are his wife, and the following sons and daughters, Pfc. Lloyd Folkerts now serving with the United States forces in Australia, Elmer Folkerts, Esther and Iola Folkerts, at home. He is also survived by two brothers, Henry Folkerts of Wilmar, Saskatchewan, Canada and Alfred Folkerts of Monticello. Folkerts was secretary of the German Mutual Fire Insurance Association of Monticello and had held this position for eleven years. Folkerts was a life-long member of the Lutheran church.
