Description	:	Johann J. Jahn, son of Johann Florian and Anna Clara Kumisch Jahn, was born September 27, 1827 at Herzogsdorf, Maehren, Austria. Johann married Juliana Weinelt June 3, 1884 in Brauseifen, Maehren, Austria. They left Hamburg, Germany abroad the Moravia on August 5, 1885 arriving in New York on August 18. They listed their home as Braunseifen, Bohmen and Johann's occupation as landmann (countryman or farmer). They came to Nebraska in 1885 with her daughter, Anna Trampe. They left Hamburg, Germany abroad the Moravia on August 5, 1885 arriving in New York on August 18. They listed their home as Braunseifen, Bohmen and Johann's occupation as landmann (countryman or farmer). They came to Nebraska in 1885 with her daughter, Anna Trampe. Their infant son, Ernest or Rudolph, may have died on the voyage and was buried at sea. (This is a family story but no proof was found on ship's records.) They homesteaded in SW1/4 of Section 29 of Elk Township, Custer County. (Their great-grandson Delman Trampe now owns this property.) Their first home was a dugout but later they constructed a sod house with whitewashed walls, board floors, and feather ticks on the beds. Johann was a silversmith and cabinet maker in Austria. Julia and Johann were the parents of Anna Trampe, Bertha Scully, Otelliea Jones, Robert, and William. Somewhere down through the years the name Jahn got changed to Yohn. His grand-daughter, Helen Jones Pritchard, remembered that German was spoken in their home and that she had to learn English to attend school. Her Grandfather Johann lived with the Jones family and he would watch the grandchildren while "Tillie" helped pick corn and other field work. Johann died at the home of his daughter, Otelliea Jones, on the Fred Trampe farm south of Sartoria on November 19, 1914. His funeral was held at the Immanual Lutheran Church near Amherst with burial at Black Hill Creek Cemetery which was just about a mile south of his homestead.
