She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, both of rural Pickrell in Gage County, Nebraska. Read More	JoHanna Angeline (Waltke) Johnsen, 90 December 5, 1927 ~ September 26, 2018 JoHanna Angeline was born on December 5, 1927 at rural Pickrell, Nebraska to Christian and Helena (Schmidt) Waltke. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church, and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, both of rural Pickrell in Gage County, Nebraska. She graduated from Beatrice Nebraska High School in 1944 and taught country school for several years. On May 25, 1947, she married Elmer Johnsen at Christ Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. They were blessed with four children. They lived east of Holmesville, Nebraska for nine years, over 30 years east of Beatrice, Nebraska and several years in Pickrell before she moved to Beatrice. She worked at the Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC) in the 1970’s and then became involved with the elderly at the Beatrice Manor Care Center as Activity and Social Services Director for 14 years. She also worked at Beatrice Day Care and while living at Homestead Village assisted in the office. Sadly, her husband, Elmer, died on January 4, 1991. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice where she sang in the choir, was a member of Joy Circle, and was a substitute Sunday School teacher. JoHanna Angeline (Waltke) Johnsen, 90, of Beatrice, died Wednesday evening, September 26. 2018 at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. Left to cherish her memory are three sons: Richard (Karen) Johnsen of Lincoln, NE; Dallen (Nancy) Johnsen of Beatrice; and Dennis Johnsen of Lincoln; one daughter, Joanna “Jo” Lottman of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren: Eric Johnsen, Kendra (Nathaniel) Laushman, Reggie Borzekofski and friend Keri Ray, Peggy Johnsen, Jeremiah (Karen) Johnsen, Jason (Julie) Johnsen, Kylee (Jim) Dowling, Nathan (Mandy) Johnsen, Brittany (Ben) Jennings, Chris (Sarah) Lottman and Travis Lottman and friend Sydney Head; 18 great-grandchildren: Andrew and Madison Moore, Macie Laushman, Jake and Paige Valentine, Zachary (Marley) Borzekofski, Joshua (Jordan) Borzekofski, Katie, Lauren and Carter Johnsen, Parker and Evalee Johnsen, Jackson, Grant and Callen Dowling, Noah Johnsen, Barrett Jennings and Dean Lottman; two great-great-grandchildren, Delilah Pope and Jaxon Borzekofski; one brother, Alfred Waltke of Delafield, WI; one sister, Leanna Mihulka of Columbus; one brother-in-law, Leland (Viola) Johnsen of Beatrice; three sisters-in-law, Christena (Herman) Hofeling, Margie Waltke and Janice Waltke all of Beatrice; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers: Jurgen, Willie, John, Ernest and Willard Waltke; two sisters: Agnes Williams and Christina Agena. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice with Pastor Chuck Bentjen officiating. Burial will be at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 A.M. on Monday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Joan Orwen and Jr. Zimmerman in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon Saturday until 9:00 P.M. Sunday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Monday.
