She passed away in the Superior hospital January 15, 1939, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 3 days. (Source: Illinois, County Marriage Records) ============================================= The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, January 19, 1939 Johanna Schumann, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Schumann, was born at Crayfield, Germany, October 12, 1861. She passed away in the Superior hospital January 15, 1939, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 3 days. Miss Schumann came to America with her parents in 1868. They established their home at Kewanee, Illinois, on April 9, 1876. She was confirmed and became a member of the Lutheran church. She was united in marriage to John Seefeld on September 4, 1881, in the Lutheran church at Kewanee. They shared this companionship for over 57 years. To this union five children were born, one son dying in infancy. She is survived by her husband, Mr. John Seefeld, one son, Charlie of Guide Rock, three daughters, Mrs. Mamie Rogers of Kansas City, Kansas, Nellie May of Pawnee City, and Louise at home. Nine grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Clara Ekwall, Holmesville, Nebraska, Mrs. Louise Coleman of Norwood, Ohio, and Mrs. Fannie Kunze of Kansas City, Mo; two brothers, Bert Schumann of Abilene, Kansas, and Harry Schumann of Saskatchawan, Canada. She had many friends who will greatly miss her cheering presence. She bore her suffering without murmuring and patiently awaited the final summons. Mrs. Seefeld became a member of the Methodist church in 1926, and she was loyal and active as long as her health would permit. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. V.R. Daniels. Out of town relatives at the funeral were Mrs. Clara Eckwall (sister) and her children, Clifford Eckwall, Mrs. Geo. Powell and Mr. and Mrs. O.K. Jones all of near Wymore; her grand sons, Homer and Myrl Seefeld, and their wives of Davenport, and Mrs. and Mrs. Carl Statz of Imperial. Friends from other towns were Mr. and Mrs. F.E. Wintermute and daughter Fern of Ayr, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hoppens and two daughters of Glenvil. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank all the friends and neighbors for their many thoughtful kindnesses during the illness and death of our dear wife and mother. We also wish to thank those who made her last Christmas happy with their cards and remembrances. We appreciate your kindness more than mere words can express. John Seefeld and Children.
