Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from St. Matthew Lutheran church with Rev. Arnold E. Schlueter officiating. Burial was made at Oakwood cemetery. Born Oct 11, 1877, in Waterloo, he was the son of Rev. Christoph and Celena Hertz Mardorf. He moved with his parents to Wayne Township where his father was pastor of Wayne Zion church. He was married to Matilda Zimmerman June 3, 1903, at the Wayne church and they made their home on a farm in Jackson Township east of Anamosa. They were the parents of three children. Mr. and Mrs. Mardorf moved to their present home at 429 South Linden Street in Monticello on Dec. 15, 1937. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Celena, Mrs. Louis Schladetzky and Florence, Mrs. Herbert Lehrman, both of Olin; a son Carl A. Mardorf of Anamosa; eight grandchildren: three sisters. Mrs. Herman Rickels and Miss Anna Mardorf, both of Monticello and Mrs. Henry Rickels of Anamosa; and one brother, Rev. Carl Mardorf of Olin. One sister and three brothers preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran church, Monticello, and served for many years as an officer of the church. Pallbearers included Louis Heiken, Frederick Rieniets, J. Henry Rienits, Tobias Hinrichs, Paul Gerdes and LaVern McVay. The Goettsch funeral home had charge of the arrangements.
