Description	:	John Arnold Orville Hanes was born August 7, 1920, Cheyenne County, KS, the son of George and Mary Alice Hanes. He died January 16, 1993, at his home in Trenton, Nebraska. John grew up on the farm in Cheyenne County, KS and attended Parks High School in Parks, NE. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during World War II. He was married to Dolly Cemer and after his discharge from the service, they returned to southwest Nebraska and spent most of their life in the Trenton community where he farmed and was engaged... John grew up on the farm in Cheyenne County, KS and attended Parks High School in Parks, NE. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during World War II. He was married to Dolly Cemer and after his discharge from the service, they returned to southwest Nebraska and spent most of their life in the Trenton community where he farmed and was engaged in auto repair, later joining a construction company until his retirement in 1979. He was preceded in death by three sons, a grand daughter and a grandson, five brothers and two sisters. He was survived by his wife, 4 sons and 2 daughters, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The 50th Anniversary Album Dundy County NE - The War Years narrate the following: "John A. Hanes was a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hanes of Parks. He entered the service on May 1, 1942 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. His Air Force basic training was taken at Jefferson Barracks, MO, Chanute Field, IL and Atlantic City, NJ. He received his overseas training at Presque, ME and was then stationed in Meeks Field, Iceland, where he served for 18 months. He returned to the States on December 7, 1944, went to Wilmington, Del. then to Ft. Dix, NJ and was discharged from Lincoln Air Base in Lincoln, NE..."
